Documentary Festival to take place in Parque Forestal
SANTIAGO – This Wednesday, the 22th of February, the event “Parte Documentales en el Parque 2012″ will begin. It follows a number of cultural events throughout Chile, particularly the very successful Santiago a Mil in January.
The screenings will take place in front of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (MAC). From Wednesday till sunday you will have the chance to watch a number of prominent documentary films under the open sky.
Each time the presentations will start at 9pm. Entrance is free and it has plenty to offer, that you should not miss. Some almost forgotten treasures will be screened, like the over 100-year-old documentary “Celebraciones del Centenario de la República” (Celebrations of the Centenary of the Republic) and of course many new productions.

Chile has many documentary films and producers. Unfortunately this fact is not that famous in the country. But this festival tries to change this state. In a nice ambience, in Santiago’s summer nights. People come together to watch a movie in public. This event shall also give the public place an new meaning.
“Parte Documentales en el Parque 2012” is a project of the documentary films culture club known as Culdoc. The festival is a successor to the “Documentales al Aire Libre” which took place from 2004 to 2009. An event which was begun members of the Culdoc especially for the ICEI (Institute of Communication and Images) of the University of Chile. They have decided to continue this project and to reorganize it in that way that many people will visit it and to make the event better year after year. Furthermore they hope to spread the project to different places throughout Chile.
To visit the event is worth one’s while. For documentary-fans, for those who want to become one and for those that only want to be together with a lot of nice people to watch a movie in public. Best of all, entry is free.
The event will take place in Parque Forestal, outside the Museo de Arte Conemporáneo (Contemporary Art Museum) in the Bellas Artes district. This area of the park is known as Plaza Juan Sebastian Bach.
